Walker - Turner Bandsaw
I now have an upright bandsaw. It came from GovDeal auctions house for John A. Logan College in southern Illinois. If I remember right I only paid $230 dollars. It is missing a handle on the back. I did add a roller tray to be able to move around the shop with flip down wheels. I should have given more space around the wheels or put the casters on the other end, but works great if the wheels don't caught.
This bandsaw has a two speed gearbox meaning it can be used on steel or wood. It is three phase but I plan on converting it. It was missing two panels that I made. One on the bottom covering the motor and the other covering the electrical panel. The last is due to the drive home. Lesson learned to check everything before moving.
The guide rollers, upper and lower were missing. I have added then using simple roller skates bearings. There cheap and easy to replace.
The only thing I don't like is I can not add a riser. I am thinking about cutting it but... I'll have to do a lot on thought on that. The upper roller mount would have to be rebuilt/extended.

The bandsaw had a 3 phase motor. Not having 3 phase at my shop means I running a phase generator to power it. On the auction site I use I have been biding on motor to replace it and finally got one for 5 dollars. When I changes the motor I found a big problem. The wires in the saw has a problem. As I moved them the insulation was cracking and falling off. I ended up rewiring the whole saw, the light, and controls.
It is so nice not to have to run the phase generator to run the saw.
The next thing is a fence for re-sawing. It has a 8" height and no place for a riser but I still thinking about how I could put in a 4 to 6" riser. Cutting is would not be the problem, problem is how to bolt it together.
