I caught some bees
I had put out some Nuks and used bee commander about two months ago. When ever I would remember I would go spray some more bait in the nuks.
Last week I walked up the driveway to get the mail and stopped off at a Cheery tree for a snack. The squirrels had gotten most of them but I small branches still had some. As I stood there eating I notice bees flying around me. I looked up at the nuk and there they were.
I moved them into a 10 frame box. The frame above is their work. I have some frames with the boards in them. Today I added some food to the top. I'll keep an eye on them to see if they eat it.
They did not eat any of the food from the store. Ask me, it was kind of gross and oily sticking.
I added a box on top with frames. I did not put a supper on top. I figuring the first year all the honey is theirs to get though the winter. I have given them sugar water. I used a mason jar with some holes upside down. It lasted about a week.
It is now Fall 2021.
I feed the bee sugar water again. I used a water bottle and a feeder that slides into the opening. It was gone in one day.
The bees have filled the bottom box but have not moved into the top. I planning on putting insulation around it and installing something to help block off the entrance. I am thinking of pulling the upper box off so the bees do not have a large open space above them and don't have to heat that to sty warm.
