48" Enco Pan Brake
I bought this from a Craigslist. It was a storage unit clean out. The owner of the storage place was listed it. It was listed for 500 dollars. When I got there I call the guy on it. It was listed as brand new. Seeing the rust pissed me off. I spent an hour and a half driving down to look at this. There was also a repair done to one side.
So let me back up some. When I got there the person in the office had no clue about any of this. She also made me wait as she talked to her friend that was there. When I told her that I was here to look at the Craigslist ad stuff, she started talking about it is not her job to do "show and tell" and that the owner was out of the country. When I told her I had just talked to him two hours ago she changed her tune. She called the owner and I was given a key and a number and directions to the unit.
Now I see the bender. As soon as I saw it, I called the owner. He could understand I was upset, but kept on repeating he didn't know about these things. He also needed it gone, because he had the unit setup to be rented soon. After telling him that I would have to order parts to even use it or have it repair right he asked what I was willing to pay. Knowing he is going to make money as soon as it is rented and that this stuff it stopping that along with knowing the unit rented for 60 dollars a month I told him 200 dollars. I figured he would want more and this was the reason I low balled it. The next words floored me, he says if you can get it out of there today it is yours.
Moving something this big is not easy by yourself. Each finger got removed and the counter weight. I kind of dumped it over and on to the trailer. Closed the door, locked it and headed up front to pay.
I was on the road 10 minutes later with a bill of sell for 200 dollars.
There are deals out there and then there are deals you make happen. I am building a shop on a very tight budget. It is getting there.
